Fracking Tour MAPGlobal Exchange is excited to be hitting the road beginning this Sunday on the California Communities Rising Against Fracking speaking tour through California’s fracklands. We are bringing voices from PA, including Doug Shields, former Pittsburgh city councilman who passed a “rights-based” fracking ban (details in the blog below) and featured in the Josh Fox films The Sky is Pink and Gasland II.  Our hard-working host communities have set up fantastic events that are tailored to their community’s needs in Chico, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Culver City, San Diego and more.  Also on the road with us are our tour partners and sponsors from Center for Biological Diversity, Clean Water Action, EARTHWORKS,350.org, Food & Water Watch, CREDO Action,  Transition Towns and community groups.

Please help us share the news of these events far and wide.

And, on a related note, though it doesn’t address fracking specifically, Global Exchange and partners helped Santa Monica pass the first-in-California law recognizing rights for ecosystems this week in effort to make sustainability legal – part of the work we are doing to pass local rights-based fracking bans:
